Mobile DPF Cleaning & Forced Regeneration in London

Warning light on, power down, black smoke on acceleration. Most blocked diesel particulate filters don’t need replacing, they need clearing. We diagnose properly on-site, then carry out DPF cleaning or a forced DPF regeneration depending on how blocked the filter actually is. London and the M25, six days a week.

Mobile DPF Cleaning & Regeneration Services in London

Both routes below start with a diagnostic to check how blocked the filter actually is. That's what decides which one you need.

DPF Cleaning

A specialist DPF deep clean that removes both soot and ash, the ash being something regeneration alone never touches. Right when the filter's heavily loaded, when regeneration keeps failing to complete, or when a DPF warning light keeps returning after a drive. Restores exhaust backpressure to close to standard and can avoid the cost of a full DPF replacement.

DPF Forced Regeneration

A diagnostic-triggered active regeneration cycle for filters that are blocked but not yet heavily loaded with ash. It's the same self-cleaning burn your vehicle would normally complete on a long motorway drive, carried out on-site under controlled conditions instead of relying on the right journey happening naturally.

 UNDERSTANDING THE FAULT

What Causes a DPF to Block? Understanding DPF Cleaning & Regeneration

01

What the DPF Does

Sits in the exhaust and traps soot particles so they don’t leave the tailpipe.

02

Passive Regeneration

Happens automatically at motorway speeds, exhaust temperature rises high enough to burn soot off on its own.

03

Active / Forced Regeneration

ECU injects extra fuel to raise exhaust temperature and force the burn-off when passive conditions haven’t been met.

04

Why Short Trips Cause Blockages

Regeneration needs 40mph+ for around 10 minutes. Stop-start and multi-drop routes rarely reach that, so the cycle starts but never finishes.

05

Soot vs Ash

Regeneration burns off soot, but ash builds up separately and regeneration can’t remove it at all, however the vehicle’s driven.

06

What Speeds Up Blockages

Faulty EGR valves, failing DPF sensors, poor fuel quality and the wrong oil spec all interfere with regeneration completing properly.

Benefits

What's Included in Our Mobile DPF Cleaning Service

No Unnecessary Replacement

Most blocked DPFs clean or regenerate successfully. Replacement is rarely the first answer.

Power & Economy Restored

Clearing backpressure gets performance and fuel economy back to where they should be.

Lifetime warranty

DPF cleaning and regeneration work covered for as long as you own the vehicle.

Same-day, on-site

Most jobs finished in 2 to 3 hours, wherever your vehicle's parked.

Signs you need this service

Signs Your DPF Needs Cleaning or Regenerating

A blocked DPF rarely fails without warning. It usually builds gradually, especially on vehicles doing mostly short or urban journeys that never let the filter reach regeneration temperature. The clearest sign is a DPF warning light that won’t clear, or one that keeps returning within days of a reset, often paired with a noticeable drop in power as the engine restricts itself to protect the filter. Black or dark smoke on acceleration, a rough idle, sluggish response at low revs, and rising fuel consumption are all common alongside it. If the warning light has turned solid, or a second amber warning light has appeared, that usually means the filter’s too blocked for normal driving alone to clear it.

DPF warning light that won't clear, or keeps returning

Noticeable loss of power, especially under load

Black or dark exhaust smoke on acceleration

Rough idle or engine feels strained at low revs

Increased fuel consumption with no other explanation

Warning light has turned solid or a second light's appeared

Rising AdBlue consumption without obvious cause

How it works

How Our Mobile DPF Cleaning & Regeneration Service Works

01

Book & Go

Send your reg, symptoms, and roughly how the vehicle’s normally driven, short trips or motorway.

02

On-Site Diagnostic

Backpressure, soot and ash loading checked before we decide between forced regeneration or a full clean.

03

Clean or Regenerate on the Driveway

Whichever the filter actually needs, carried out on-site, typically 2 to 3 hours.

04

Test, Report, Warranty

Drive cycle, re-check, written report on filter condition before and after. Lifetime warranty.

What causes a DPF to block in the first place?

Mostly short, stop-start journeys that never let the exhaust reach regeneration temperature, so soot keeps building instead of burning off. Faulty EGR valves, failing DPF sensors, poor-quality fuel, and the wrong oil spec can all make it worse.

Passive regeneration happens automatically at sustained motorway speeds, no driver input needed. Active regeneration is triggered by the ECU injecting extra fuel to raise exhaust temperature when passive conditions haven’t been met. Forced regeneration is the same active process, triggered manually through diagnostic equipment rather than waiting for the ECU to attempt it.

Sometimes, if the blockage is light, a sustained drive at higher revs can complete a regeneration the vehicle already started. Once the warning light’s solid or a second light’s appeared, driving alone usually isn’t enough.

Most blocked filters clean or regenerate successfully. Replacement is usually only needed if the filter’s physically cracked or damaged, not just blocked with soot and ash.
