MERCEDES ADBLUE SPECIALISTS
Mercedes-Benz AdBlue Fault Repair in London & Midlands | From £249
Mercedes calls its emissions system BlueTEC, but underneath the branding it runs the same SCR technology as any other diesel, and it fails the same way too: a sensor drifts, a heater circuit gives out, an injector stops spraying cleanly. What sets Mercedes apart is how often we see it on the Sprinter, a van that racks up serious mileage for couriers and tradespeople, alongside the C-Class, E-Class and GLC on the passenger side. We diagnose the actual cause rather than clearing the warning and sending you on your way. We cover London and the Midlands, plus Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Mercedes AdBlue Repair Services
Professional Mercedes AdBlue system diagnostics and repair, focused on identifying the underlying fault and restoring the system correctly. From AdBlue warnings and NOx sensor issues to SCR system faults, resets, and related repairs, we use proper diagnostic equipment to fix the cause rather than simply clearing the warning.
01
The physical repair, pump, injector, sensor, module or wiring, carried out once the diagnosis has confirmed what actually failed.
02
Clearing the fault memory and confirming the countdown has gone once the repair is complete.
03
A full check of the fault memory and live system data to establish the real cause before any parts are recommended.
04
Advice and support for suitable vehicles where an AdBlue bypass is being considered, with legal requirements and intended use taken into account.
05
For Mercedes vehicles already counting down toward a no restart state. We repair the underlying cause and clear the countdown.
06
Sensor, module and catalyst testing to establish exactly where in the system the fault sits.
Mercedes AdBlue Warning Light and Fault Signs
These are the signs that tend to show up on Mercedes cars and Sprinter vans before the AdBlue system stops the engine restarting.
- AdBlue system fault, see owner's manual" or a similar message on the dash
- A restart countdown, often shown as a specific number of engine starts remaining rather than miles
- Noticeably reduced power, sometimes with the engine seeming rougher at idle
- The message reappearing shortly after the AdBlue tank has been refilled
- A strong ammonia type smell near the exhaust, more common on Sprinter vans doing high daily mileage

Mercedes AdBlue Fault Codes We Repair
These are the AdBlue and SCR fault codes we see most often on Mercedes cars and Sprinter vans.
Mercedes AdBlue Fault Repair Process
Step1
Pull the fault memory and current live data We connect and read what the car has stored alongside its live pressure, dosing and sensor readings, so we are looking at the current state of the system, not just a historical code.
Step 2
Confirm whether the pump and injector are performing correctly — We test the pump under load and check the injector’s spray pattern, ruling either in or out before moving further.
Step 3
Check the NOx sensors, the module and the wiring — We look at sensor output on both sides of the catalyst and check the wiring and connectors, particularly around the exhaust where heat and road grime cause problems over time.
Step 4
Carry out the repair and confirm the fault has cleared —Once the cause is confirmed, we repair or replace the part, clear the fault memory, and check the restart countdown has genuinely gone before handing the vehicle back.

Mercedes AdBlue FAQs
It means the system has flagged a fault it cannot self correct, rather than a simple low fluid warning. Given how many possible causes sit behind that one message, a proper scan is the only reliable way to know whether it is a sensor, the heater circuit or something else.
Not in terms of the fault itself, it is the same underlying countdown mechanism as other manufacturers use, just displayed differently. Once it reaches zero the outcome is the same, the engine will not restart until the fault is repaired.
It is a Mercedes manufacturer code, not a generic one, and it points to the NOx sensor circuit reporting readings lower than the system expects. We see it most on E-Class and GLE models from the mid 2010s onward.
High mileage vans do put more demand on the system over time, particularly the NOx sensors and the dosing components, simply through more hours of operation. It does not mean a fault is inevitable, but it is part of why we see Sprinters more often than most other Mercedes models.
We can talk through what is and is not appropriate for a specific vehicle, taking legal requirements and how the vehicle is used into account, rather than presenting it as a blanket fix.
If the warning returns within a short distance of a refill, that is a strong sign the system has detected an actual fault rather than simply being low, since the car had enough fresh fluid to clear a genuine level issue.
Mostly it shows up in cold weather, but a heater circuit that is already borderline can throw an intermittent fault at other times of year too, particularly overnight when temperatures drop more than expected.
The underlying SCR technology is the same, though the tank size, pump capacity and specific fault codes can differ between the van and car platforms, which is why we diagnose per model rather than assuming.
Repairs start from £249, with the final cost depending on which part the diagnosis identifies, a sensor repair and an injector or pump replacement are not the same job.
